Lucille Ball was quoted as saying "Love yourself first and everything else falls into place. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world".
What is it then to love yourself? For me it means loving who I am and having the courage to authentically be me. This means utlising my strengths and accepting my weaknesses, nourishing my body and nurturing my spirit with positive thoughts.
When you are feeling good about who you are, you are more likely to accept other people and their process through the journey of life. This all helps bring more positive experiences into your world. To quote 'The Secret' here, whatever you are putting out to the universe will come back to you, whether you realise it or not.
I believe when a balance is found upholding your responsibilities as a mother, wife, friend, employee, sister, etc and you still have time to nurture your interests. Then you are loving yourself.
As a natural learning mum, this balance can be challenging to find. Some days I find myself immersed in our daily routine and realise I haven't followed my interests that day. The washing is done, the boys are happy and stimulated, we have had yummy nutritious food, the chookies are taken care of, Darryl (my husband) and I have connected.......the day goes on......I water my vegie garden....take the dogs to the park........do some pilates..........read books with the boys.........................dinner, bath, books and bed. Once the boys and Darryl are asleep and the house is as silent as falling snow, then my time begins.
This could mean a long soak in a warm, oily bath, complete with a Miessence Rejuvenating clay Facial Mask. Check out the nourishing, nurturing products available at www.integrity.mionegroup.com
Maybe I will relax on the sofa with a stimulating book, or do some writing, or a reading from my course. At present my energy is going into this website. I am finding this an amazing creative outlet, utilising my love of research and writing.
Whatever you are into, I'm sure there is a way to fit it into your day. Maybe early morning before anyone else is awake. This is a great time for meditation, with only the early bird songs to break the silence. If you have a supportive family and friends living close, maybe they will have your children for the day or even a couple of hours regularly.
We all deserve to be nurtured and nourished. As Mum's we need to realise that to really nurture and nourish our beautiful offspring, we first need to nurture and nourish ourselves.
